La actividad física insuficiente (AFI) y el comportamiento sedentario (CS) aumentan el riesgo de desarrollar estos trastornos. Aunque se sabe que el ejercicio físico puede reducir la inflamación crónica, no hay consenso en la dosis óptima para mujeres adultas sedentarias con SO y OB. Objetivo: Se investigó el efecto de un programa de entrenamiento funcional de alta intensidad modificado (MHIFT) combinado con el entrenamiento en circuito (EC) y entrenamiento concurrente (ECte), sobre la composición corporal (CC), la Condición Física (CF) y los niveles de algunos marcadores de antiinflamación (MAI), en mujeres adultas sedentarias con sobrepeso u obesidad. Método: Estudio longitudinal con diseño cuasi experimental de intervención con ochenta mujeres (80) sedentarias, con sobrepeso y obesidad entre 26 y 65 años, conformaron el grupo experimental y el grupo control. Al grupo experimental se le aplicó una intervención con ejercicio prescrito y supervisado de resistencia cardiovascular y de fuerza, con entrenamiento funcional de alta intensidad modificado (MHIFT) en modalidad de tábata combinado con entrenamiento en circuito (EC) y entrenamiento concurrente (ECte), durante 16 semanas; el grupo control no recibió intervención. Ambos grupos participaron en pruebas pre test y postest de antropometría, composición corporal, condición física y marcadores de antiinflamación. Resultados: el estudio mostró una adherencia del 100%, ninguna lesión ni evento adverso y mejoras estadísticamente significativas en el grupo experimental al comparar el pre test vs. el pos test, así: peso: p < 0,00001, IMC: p < 0,00001, % de grasa total: p < 0,00013, grasa visceral: p < 0,01173, masa ósea: p < 0,01852, frecuencia cardiaca: p < 0,00083, VO2máx: p < 0,00001, abdominales: p < 0 ,00001, flexión de brazos: p < 0,00001, salto horizontal: p < 0 ,00001, e IL4: p < 0 ,00001; en cambio, la masa muscular: p < 0,09669 y el IL 10: p < 0,12737 no presentaron mejoras significativas. El grupo control mostró resultados inferiores en el pretest vs el postest en: % de grasa total: p < 0,00148, grasa visceral: p < 16 0,01198, la masa muscular: p < 0,03105 y frecuencia cardiaca: p <-0,01485; las demás variables: peso, IMC, masa ósea, VO2máx., abdominales, flexión de brazos, salto, IL4 e IL 10, no presentaron cambios significativos. En conclusión, una intervención de 16 semanas de MHIFT en modalidad de tábata combinado con EC, y ECte, dieron lugar al mejoramiento de la mayoría de las variables de composición corporal, condición física; además, este tipo de programa provocaron un efecto antiinflamatorio en uno de los marcadores de antiinflamación.Abstract Introduction: Obesity (OB) and overweight (SO) represent global health challenges that affect everyone and have many causes. Insufficient physical activity (AI) and sedentary behavior (CS) increase the risk of developing these disorders. Although it is known that physical exercise can reduce chronic inflammation, there is no consensus on the optimal dose for sedentary adult women with SO and OB. Objective: The effect of a modified high-intensity functional training (MHIFT) program combined with circuit training (EC) and concurrent training (ECte) on body composition (BC) and levels of some anti-inflammatory serum markers (AIM) in sedentary adult women with overweight or obesity was investigated. Method: A longitudinal study with a quasi-experimental intervention design with an experimental and control group. Eighty sedentary women, aged 26 to 65, with overweight and obesity, comprised the experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent a prescribed and supervised cardiovascular and strength resistance exercise intervention, including modified 17 high-intensity functional training (HIFT) in tábata mode combined with circuit training (EC) and concurrent training (ECte) for 16 weeks; the control group received no intervention. Both groups participated in pre-test and post-test anthropometry, body composition, physical fitness, and anti-inflammatory marker tests. Results: The study showed 100% adherence, no injuries or adverse events, and statistically significant improvements in the experimental group when comparing pre-test vs. post-test, as follows: weight: p<0,00001, BMI: p < 0,00001, total fat %: p < 0,00013, visceral fat: p < 0,01173, bone mass: p < 0,01852, heart rate: p < 0,00083, VO2max: p < 0,00001, abdominal strength: p < 0,00001, arm flexion: p < 0,00001, horizontal jump: p < 0,00001, and IL4: p < 0,00001; however, muscle mass: p < 0,09669 and IL 10: p < 0,12737 did not show significant improvements.
