Urbanization modifies landscape structure by reducing forest cover, increasing fragmentation, and impacting biodiversity. These changes alter ecological connectivity, a key component for the persistence of sensitive species such as primates. To evaluate how the structure of the urbanized landscape in Colombia’s Region Eje Cafetero influences the presence of the Andean night monkey (Aotus lemurinus), 17 urban forest fragments were sampled through nocturnal walks, and landscape composition and configuration metrics were analyzed at multiple spatial scales. Additionally, a functional connectivity analysis was conducted to identify potential corridors and strategic fragments for conservation. Monkey presence was positively associated with forest amount at larger spatial scales and negatively associated with edge density at smaller scales. A total of 107 potential functional corridors were identified, several of which presented high movement costs. The most connected node was located in the buffer zone of El Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, highlighting the role of protected areas in linking urban and rural zones. Although monkeys were recorded in urban fragments, this presence does not necessarily indicate adaptation or long-term viability. The results emphasize the need to conserve greater amounts of habitat, improve connectivity in fragmented landscapes and integrate ecological criteria into land-use planning to support the species' persistence in environments transformed by urbanization.
