Singapore intends to take a leading role in creating a knowledge-based economy. Consequently, the government has great ambitions to build not only research centers but also a world-class university environment, an education hub. The first part of the article seeks to describe the factors that facilitated the establishment of the education hub and the Global Schoolhouse project in Singapore. The second part identifies the challenges and problems of this project, while the third part proposes solutions to these problems. Although some of the solutions may refer to policies implemented in other countries, the article maintains a focus on the unique problems of Singapore.Este artículo analiza el desarrollo del centro educativo en Singapur. La migración mundial de profesionales y estudiantes talentosos comenzó hace muchos siglos y se vio reforzada por la globalización. Singapur tiene la intención de asumir un papel de liderazgo en la creación de una economía basada en el conocimiento. En consecuencia, el gobierno tiene grandes ambiciones para construir no solo centros de investigación sino también un entorno universitario de clase mundial, un centro educativo. La primera parte del artículo busca describir los factores que facilitaron el establecimiento del centro educativo y el proyecto Global Schoolhouse en Singapur. La segunda parte identifica los desafíos y problemas de este proyecto, mientras que la tercera parte propone soluciones a estos problemas.
