A través de una metodología estructurada en tres fases —diagnóstico, diseño de estrategias e implementación de un plan piloto— se identificaron las principales falencias en los hábitos de separación, infraestructura e información disponible sobre el manejo de residuos dentro del campus. Se diseñaron e implementaron 7 estrategias enfocadas en fomentar la cultura ambiental universitaria, optimizar la disposición de residuos aprovechables, reducir la generación de residuos no aprovechables e impulsar la educación ambiental. Estas incluyeron campañas de sensibilización, mejoras en la infraestructura de residuos, programas de incentivos, compostaje, consumo consciente, puntos posconsumo y protocolos operativos. Los resultados del piloto evidenciaron avances significativos en la participación de la comunidad universitaria, aunque también se identificaron retos persistentes en la apropiación del conocimiento normativo y en la gestión de residuos especiales y peligrosos. Este proyecto contribuye a la consolidación de un modelo replicable de gestión integral de residuos en contextos educativos, alineado con los principios de la economía circular, la normatividad colombiana vigente y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible.ABSTRACT: This undergraduate thesis addresses the issue of inadequate solid waste management at Universidad EIA, an institution committed to environmental sustainability. Through a structured methodology in three phases —diagnosis, strategy design, and implementation of a pilot plan— the main shortcomings were identified in waste separation habits, infrastructure, and the availability of information regarding proper waste handling on campus. A total of 7 strategies were designed and implemented to promote an environmental culture within the university, optimize the disposal of recyclable waste, reduce the generation of non-recyclable waste, and strengthen environmental education. These included awareness campaigns, improvements to waste infrastructure, incentive programs, composting systems, conscious consumption actions, post-consumer collection points, and operational protocols. The pilot results showed significant progress in community engagement, although persistent challenges were identified, particularly in knowledge of regulations and the handling of special and hazardous waste.
