Summary:The purpose of the work was to analyze the teaching strategies of English teachers at I.E.D Mundo Bolivariano, taking as a starting point classroom observations, the syllabus and the lesson plans. The theoretical foundations addressed the concepts of foreign language, English teaching methods and strategies and English teaching practices as a methodological route, the introspective-experiential paradigm, and qualitative hermeneutical research were chosen. The interview technique was applied, supported by an interview format, other techniques such as document review, a checklist instrument and document analysis matrices. The results of the study show that the didactic tendencies used by teachers tend to be mentalistic; a type of trend based on the communicative approach and characterized by determining the sequence of units based on content, function and meaning (use of dialogues, context, use of communicative functions, less memory and more contextualization to achieve effective communication.
