Description
Summary:Currently, the use of social networks has become one of the main means of communication which, in turn, due to its globalization, allows communication between different channels, without measuring distance. Likewise, it contributes and facilitates the practice of a plurality of movements of a social, cultural, economic, and entertainment nature. Thus, the power and influence that social networks can have in societies becomes evident, leading to the fact that, if the use of the different software that make up the concept of "social networks" is not limited, the negative effects that they are likely to generate would exceed the estimated figures. The study was based on the use of animated videos, embedded in a form of Google forms, which simulated a cyberbullying situation to assess the reaction and legitimation of the violence. Participants viewed a 15-second animated online video thatfeatured coercion by their peers in a cyberbullying situation. The responses were recorded as aggressive, social support, assertive, avoidant and passive behaviors, and were analyzed according to the frequency of selection by the participants. From the results obtained, there is evidence of a greater aggressive response emitted by the women, while the men favored passive and avoidance responses; Amongthe disconnection mechanisms most used by participants who reacted aggressively to cyberbullying were the transfer of responsibility and blaming the victim; in contrast, theleast used were euphemistic labeling and moral justification. Regarding the expectation of adolescents about the reaction of adults to their handling of cyberbullying, the responses issued by the participants indicated the probability that adults encourage themto respond aggressively when they are attacked by others.
