Summary:In this document a compilation of literature about the implementation of the Six Sigma methodology, as a management philosophy that allows reaching higher levels of competitiveness and business productivity in SMEs at a Latin American level is done. From a strategic perspective, the behavior of micro, small and medium enterprises in different countries and sectors is described, with the purpose of highlighting, from a properly documentary context, the real behavior that SMEs have maintained, as generating companies of a new dynamic of economic development, inclusive and sustainable. Together, the benefits perceived by SMEs and large corporations after implementing the improvement model are described, with the intention of demonstrating that Six Sigma can be an effective methodology in small businesses and, as in large companies , the model can offer great benefits.
