Summary:A descriptive investigation was carried out, in order to establish how the human talent influences the planning or implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SG-SST). For this, a study was carried out on certain theories and guidelines that establish the respective parameters and give way to the correct manner of execution and control measures for OSHs that likewise relate human capital to the area of occupational safety. Based on this research, it was possible to determine different factors that Colombian companies, mostly small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs), should take into account if they want their OSH management system to function properly or eventually be implemented based on the requirements, characteristics and scope of the organization. Finally, it was possible to determine the importance of the joint work between these two areas and the appropriate way to promote an organizational culture of prevention and continuous improvement with the company from an adequate management of the health and safety at work system in together with the human talent area.
