Description
Summary:In this work, coffee grounds are analyzed as biofuel for the operation of a didactic fire-tube boiler located in the facilities of the University of America Foundation, for this, crushed newspaper is added and submerged in water, in order to be used as binder Three different compositions of coffee grounds agglomerated with paper are studied, being 80/20, 70/30 and 50/50 respectively, carrying out their corresponding physicochemical characterization, evaluating criteria such as weight, size, particle density, aerated and packed bulk density, compressibility, porosity, angle of repose, moisture content, ash, volatile matter, fixed carbon, calorific value, combustion gas emissions and elemental chemical analysis. Likewise, a mass and energy balance is carried out, in order to establish the combustion efficiency. Finally, the 70/30 composition is chosen as feed for the burner.
