| Summary: | In this work, the design of a rainwater harvesting system is developed to supply the irrigation of vegetable crops on a farm in Villa de Leyva, Boyacá, Colombia. For this, the description and generalities of the rainwater collection systems are presented, including the physical principles that govern these systems, different case studies that have been presented throughout the history of humanity in which they have been implemented various types of these systems, the main types of rainwater harvesting systems currently used and a PESTAL analysis of the country, department and municipality, with the purpose of knowing the factors that may intervene or affect the design and implementation of a rainwater harvesting system. By reviewing meteorological and pluviometric data, it's possible to calculate the average rainfall of the area, which is 908 mm per year. This level of precipitation indicates that the study site is classified as an arid and desert area given the scarcity of rainwater. |
