Summary: | This paper aims to estimate and analyze the effect of school feeding on academic performance in the Saber 11 tests in mathematics and reading of students in public schools in the country, specifically, it seeks to quantify the contribution of the school feeding program (PAE) in educational achievement achieved by students in mathematics and reading tests, standard test applied to students in the last grade in Colombia. Based on the relationship that has been found in the literature and empirical studies around the world on the relationship between nutrition and education that have found positive impacts of school feeding programs on enrollment rates, attendance and academic performance with greater effect in mathematics in relation to reading and writing tests, Using data from ICFES, SIMAT and the Formal Education Survey (EDUC) of 2022, a fixed effects multiple regression model by school was estimated using Stata, and a positive and statistically significant effect of the school feeding program was found in both mathematics and reading tests. |
