Desarrollo de una propuesta para la producción de borradores libres de Policloruro de Vinilo (PVC), en la empresa Pelikan Colombia S.A.S.

Currently, the Pelikan Colombia S.A.S. drafts are produced on the basis of PVC and plasticizers, these two products have harmful effects on the environment, however, the performance of the product is good and the costs are low. In European markets they implemented regulations that eliminate products containing PVC in their composition. In reaching this market it is necessary to replace these components with others that have no environmental implications but offer the same quality as the drafts. The drafts found on the market are evaluated in terms of quality and chemically characterized by FTIR, to know the type of material used. In order to make erasers free of PVC, it is necessary to use a thermoplastic elastomer that has properties similar to natural rubber and additives that assist in the processing of the product; For this the offers of raw material are sought and the mixtures that according to patents would be the most appropriate are extruded. The extrusion should be done with the pelletized material or mixture to ensure a homogeneous mixture. The complete compound that is extruded has a good quality in terms of erasure and little migration with a hardness of 56,83 shore A. In conclusion, it is possible to replace PVC as a base material in the manufacture of erasers, for this an elastomer is used that has similar properties but also allows the eraser to have a good quality.
