| Summary: | "This thesis focused on the standardization of the use of calcium hydroxide as an alkalizing agent in the water purification process at the El Dorado Plant of the Bogotá Water and Sewerage Company (EAAB), as well as the evaluation of alternative chemical products for this function. The study was developed with the objective of improving the application of lime in the pH stabilization process in the water purification treatment and finding effective alternatives. The work included an exhaustive review of the literature related to the use of calcium hydroxide in water treatment and the identification of other chemical products that could fulfill a similar function. Likewise, a brief investigation was carried out on the physicochemical properties studied in different places in Colombia and the world in order to learn about the background of the study of pH stabilization in drinking water. Experiments were designed to compare the performance of calcium hydroxide with other alternative products in terms of alkalinity, pH, turbidity and color." |
