Summary: | In Colombia, according to the Superintendency of Public Services, the ZNI (non-interconnected zones) comprise around 63% of the national territory, including indigenous reservations, Afro-descendant communities and national parks. The department with the largest number of municipalities with ZNI is Chocó with 28.6% [10]. The technical evaluation of the potential for generating electric energy in the Chocó area with the installation of PCHs, arises as an opportunity to promote regional development by encouraging access to basic public services. DISPAC, for its part, is the electricity company of Quibdó and wants to participate in the Energy Communities initiative that seeks to expand the coverage of the electric energy service, from FNCER (non-conventional renewable energy sources). In this work, the potential for generating electric energy using hydropower in the municipality of Rio Quito, Chocó, is evaluated. |
