Description
Summary:The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the incidence of pollution in the Torca canal, located in the city of Bogotá, as a result of the discharge of domestic water. This evaluation is addressed through a detailed study in several stages. In the first phase of the study, an evaluation of the physicochemical composition of domestic water from the effluent discharged by a company in the Torca canal basin is carried out. The data necessary for this evaluation were provided by an external laboratory accredited by ONAC (National Accreditation Body of Colombia), which allowed a rigorous analysis of the water quality parameters. This analysis focused on identifying those parameters that comply and those that do not comply with current national regulations, specifically resolution 0631 of 2015 and resolution 3162 of 2015, which establish the maximum permissible limit parameters of the pollutants that can affect the quality of the water resource and the goals for the water quality of the Torca River respectively. In the second phase of the study, a modeling of the influence of domestic water discharge at a specific point located north of the city is carried out. For this modeling, the QUAL2Kw model was used as software to carry out the simulation; in turn, sampling data provided by external laboratories and secondary information searches based on studies carried out by the environmental authority at the water source were used. The model covers several sampling points, extending from the source of the Torca canal to the San Simón monitoring station. This modeling process not only includes the year 2023, but also incorporates a modeling of the year 2016 to validate the results obtained. In addition, a calibration of the model is carried out using the PIKAIA algorithm, which ensures the precision and reliability of the simulations.
