Description
Summary:The purpose of this project was to conceptually evaluate the technical feasibility and costs for the production of bioplastic in the form of a film through the use of paper waste generated by the company International House Bogotá. For this, in the first phase of the investigation, a search was carried out for different alternatives available in the literature for the design of the process and decision criteria were determined to apply a decision matrix formed by the method of weighted sums. The factors evaluated for each case were costs, the environmental component, technical feasibility, performance, process safety, legal framework and mechanical properties of the product. As a result, it was found that the most appropriate method for biofilm synthesis is the production of poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) using cellulose as a substrate for the Burkholderia Sacchari bacteria.
