Description
Summary:The use of thermo-mineral waters in the country has been linked to the great potential of activities for recreational, therapeutic and medicinal purposes and is attributed to a large number of health benefits including improving blood pressure and oxygenation. The biodiversity, diverse ecosystems and variety of climates in Colombia allow the development of this activity, however, its tourism potential remains unexploited, developing ecotourism will allow sustainable development of local communities and conservation of ecosystems. This is why we seek to deduce the environmental impacts generated as a consequence of the hot springs in the department of Cundinamarca, taking into account their classification, associated physicochemical and social characteristics, through a research methodology with a qualitative and descriptive approach, information was collected. about the amount of hot springs present in Cundinamarca, their physicochemical, socioeconomic and environmental variables derived from the activity, identifying a total of 49 hot springs in the department, with very varied values of temperature, pH and conductivity, in addition to the little development of the activity throughout the country, taking an important role in socioeconomic variables, such as the type of administration thereof, thus affecting the development of the different municipalities, using sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact, emphasizing the responsible use of water, energy and adequate waste management avoiding changes in temperature, pH, nutrient concentration, or increase in chemical or biological substances in underground aquifers and surface water bodies.
