Description
Summary:In the present work, the characterization of SAPH 440 and SFPH 540 materials was carried out, in the countersinking of the fixing holes of a disc for a 14” automobile wheel manufactured in Colombia for the automotive market. A torque test was carried out on the fixing holes to a SAPH 440 flap disc, where a wheel assembly on a vehicle is simulated and the nut is tightened and loosened 25 times continuously at 25 Nm, then at 140 Nm 25 times continuously . After this test, the countersink pieces are prepared to be subjected to microindentation and to observe the hardness of the material after the torque test. The analysis and obtaining of Vickers hardness results gave a solution for choosing the material that best adapted to the 14” disc manufacturing process, which is SFPH 540 steel. To do this, in this project different samples were taken. of the SAPH 440 sheet, with a thickness of 3.6 mm and sheets of the SFPH 540 material with a thickness of 3.5 mm, to know the behavior of the two materials under deformation stresses and cold drilling.
