| Summary: | Petroleum and its derivatives have been major players in the economic and social development of nations at a global level, since a large part of economic activities see this energy as their primary source, which is why it is quite difficult to imagine a world without the facilities and advantages offered by this source of energy that are innumerable. The abundance of this primary good has determined a series of political tensions and conflicts of a warlike nature, which have caused instability in the institutions and in the economic and energy policies of the nations both exporters of this good and importers of it, hence the premise that the abundance of primary resources can cause wealth or on the contrary it can lead a nation to absolute poverty. |
