Consequently, it is considered that the topic treated according with the following subdivision of periods: 1945-1990, 1991-2010, may clarify the questions associated to the interest and forces that underlie the moments of its application and also in the institutions that have been created to sustain it.A nivel de las expresiones que ha tenido la cooperación internacional en las diferentes etapas de su desarrollo histórico y en las concepciones teóricas que las sustentan, el artículo pretende dar elementos que permitan explicar por qué la denominada “Cooperación internacional para el desarrollo” no ha sido solamente un asunto económico, sino también de geopolítica, orientado fundamentalmente a satisfacer las necesidades de los países donantes-desarrollados.
