Description
Summary:One of the main current challenges in the carboxylic acid industry is focused on the separation processes where the equilibrium of phases is the fundamental tool. Thanks to this, there have been a large number of publications that have not been evaluated due to uncertainty. This research work seeks to fill these uncertainties by studying the thermodynamics of the vapor liquid equililbria of propionic acid in its binary mixture with water. After a bibliographic review of the experimental data available and a work carried out by the Research Group on Non-Conventional Separation Processes (of which the present one split) was selected in 8 phase equilibria that have been obtained with different pressures, with different amount of data, and determined with different experimental techniques, to obtain a sufficiently diverse set of equilibria.
