Description
Summary:The present degree work was carried out based on what was previously worked in the Institute of Biotechnology of the National University (IBUN), in the production of biopolymers from the mutated strain Burkholderia Cepacia B27 in order to perform an escalation of said process from a 7-liter bioreactor to a 100 liter reactor with the addition of a carbon source pulse to maximize the production of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). The first thing that was done was a balance of matter to know the amount of source of carbon, in this case vegetable oil, which will enter the environment with the in order to prolong the exponential phase and thus increase cell growth and polymer accumulation. Subsequently, the batch strategy fed in the different fermentations, for this purpose a pulse of vegetable oil was added during the exponential phase of the growth kinetics of the strain. Ending this stage was chosen the condition where the highest amount of polymer was obtained accumulated in the cells which was strategy number two, with a pulse of 44.091g / L at hour 22.
