Summary:External public debt is an instrument by which the national government requests a loan of some kind from a foreign entity or government, in order to obtain resources to invest in infrastructure, institutions and other types of investment as public expenditure. , since the government can not be solved only in taxes. The government that can request this type of loans can be municipal, departmental or national. While it is known that the external public debt has increased in recent years, we want to consider how the evolution of external public debt has been throughout the period from 2001 to 2016, besides which we want to know If the national government faces an excessive increase in debt, this can be resolved by comparing it with the country's ability to pay.
