Summary:Among the great challenges faced by MIPYMEs of construction companies in the Colombian area is to achieve appropriate management systems that contribute to decision making that allow the desired levels of productivity and utility to be achieved over time in a market that is increasingly competitive. Therefore, the structuring of management strategies framed in good practices that from senior management contribute to adequate monitoring and control of projects at the business level over time becomes relevant. The present study is based on the previous reflection, considering as the main objective to establish from the management of construction companies the generation of strategies that allow the adequate direction of the projects with the purpose of achieving the required competitiveness in the Colombian framework; study that starts from presenting the results of the investigation of the state of the art on the challenges and advances in business matters presented by the construction MIPYMES in the achievement of their objectives, seen from the different approaches in the Colombian context. Next, the theoretical framework of the research is defined based on the components under study: Management strategies, Project management, PMBOK® guidelines; Subsequently, the methodological foundations based on documentary, descriptive, analytical and feasible project research are presented.
