Summary:This grade work presents the characterization of activated carbon obtained from fique from the company Empaques S.A located in Medellín, a process carried out in the National University of Colombia through the chemical method using two types of acid (phosphoric, citric). In order for the coal to be able to adsorb the dye, it is necessary that it has a high porosity on its surface, so that the experimental development shown is based on analyzing the variables involved in obtaining the best carbon, such as the mass ratio and temperature. Finally, the results obtained in the adsorption are compared with the XFDR, SEM, and BET Area analyzes in order to establish the relationship between the adsorption and the resulting pore size.
