Summary:Cultural awareness towards the protection of heritage began to develop at the end of the 18th century, and "architectural recycling" is currently a primary concept in actions on the property in question, which, unlike "architectural restoration", determines the possibility of modifying the operation of a building to a new reality and intends to find new uses in it, since the previous use is obsolete, determining that the "recycling" of an obsolete building is an important strategy for conservation and adaptation of the heritage asset. In the case study of the railway station, the importance and identity that characterizes it is established, determined by the satisfaction and appropriation of the railway system by the population, through the valuation and reinterpretation of the property in relation to cultural, environmental and recreational elements. The project proposes to intervene the heritage building of the La Esperanza railway station, in La Mesa- Cundinamarca through recycling strategies, architectural and its adaptation with contemporary architecture, linking the surface treatment with the architectural fact, contributing to the consolidation of the trail. existing eco-tourism in its context, strengthening the relationship between the heritage asset and the landscape and historical qualities established in its context, benefiting the development of the local and floating population, potentiating tourism in the Mesa-Cundinamarca, being the most active and with greater growth in the municipality.
