Summary: | At present, organizational competitiveness is one of the most important challenges of industries worldwide. In particular, the food industry is one of the fastest growing, projected and relevant in Latin America, it presents an increase in the trend of searching for alternatives that allow them to position themselves in the market in the long term. For this purpose, the proper implementation of quality improvement tools and techniques have proven to be sources of benefits such as cost reduction, non-conforming products, improvement in efficiency, among others, which together with other aspects such as leadership, customer focus and commitment of people can lead to create a philosophy or culture of continuous improvement that can achieve this purpose. Due to this, the aims of this article is to make a bibliographical approach of trends of use of the tools and quality improvement techniques in the Latin American food industry, taking as reference, articles and related degree works. In this sense, relevant information was found that makes it possible to positively relate the contribution of the adequate implementation of quality improvement tools and techniques with sustained organizational competitiveness. |
