Summary: | The present investigation work evaluated a green solvent for lipids extraction from microalgae biomass at laboratory scale. Initially, the Chlorella vulgaris microalgae was selected, which was cultivated in adapted photobioreactors using as a culture medium foliar fertilizer, with photoperiod of 12 light hours / 12 dark hours and constant aeration through aquarium pumps with a flow rate of 4L/min. Two cultures were carried out and it was determined that after 11 days of inoculation, the cultures reach a stationary phase; during this phase the process of lipid extraction is carried out. Subsequently, the green solvent D-Limonene was selected with a protocol of extraction in wet biomass due to this solvent is available at low cost, it is commercially available and the lipid extraction protocol is applicable at Fundación Universidad de América. |
