Summary:This work consists of a contextualization of the international coffee market from 2008 to 2015-16 according to the information found, it was necessary to divide into 4 relevant aspects. These aspects are: world production, coffee exports in the world, coffee consumption worldwide and finally the international price of coffee and its fluctuating behavior during the mentioned years. The Colombian national market was approached taking the same aspects studied for the international market in order to raise several aspects that should be taken into account for a good business strategy for the production of robusta coffee in Colombia.
