Summary:In this project, a contextualization was initially made about Industrias Karpos SAS, its products, production processes, its economic activity and its history. In addition, a explanation was made of the main aspects of lignocellulosic biomass, its composition and its characteristics. This first chapter also includes information on pineapple, its characteristics and properties, its taxonomic classification and relevant aspects of its market, as well as an introduction to ethyl alcohol, its synthesis routes, important characteristics of the national and world market and its different uses. This chapter is completed with a description of the general process of obtaining bioethanol from lignocellulosic biomass and specific descriptions of each of the technologies available for this process, including SHF, SSF, pSSF and CBP.
