Description
Summary:This project focuses on the simulation of the methanation process of carbon dioxide (CO2) captured during the production of hydrocarbons for the production of methane gas (CH4), a sustainable fuel that allows the implementation of circular economy processes in the oil and gas industry, providing a solution to the venting and burning of methane gas that is implemented in several locations where hydrocarbons are produced in the country. In these facilities, when they are remote, diesel power plants are also used to supply energy, which generate carbon dioxide emissions. This was carried out using Aspen HYSYS, where various scenarios were modeled that include three catalysts under different operating conditions, allowing an in-depth analysis of their performance in terms of CO2 conversion and selectivity towards the formation of CH4.
