Summary:In coastal and rural areas of the world, water resource extraction faces considerable challenges due to the limited availability of surface and groundwater. Arid regions often experience overexploitation of aquifers, where extraction significantly exceeds natural recharge rates, generating water imbalances. This phenomenon is mainly observed in rural areas, where the creation of homemade underground wells, often operated with turbines, contributes to aquifer degradation.
