Particularly in diseases that affect performance and physical activities, such as pulmonary hypertension, it is necessary to know the repercussions on a basic aspect in the life of the patient, that is, the tolerance to physical activity, and to know the functional response of patients to medical interventions. Methodology Although it does not involve great effort for the patient, the Six-Minute Walk test can provide a quantification of the capacity of the tolerance to physical activity, the response to therapeutic interventions, and patient progress. Results This test has logistical advantages, namely it does not require expensive devices, the physical area used is easy to prepare, the patients performing the test only need basic training and results are objective and of simple interpretation. The previous aspects and the fact that this test is easy to repeat, is inexpensive, and has no risk for the patient, makes it a highly recommended test for the evaluation and monitoring of paediatric patients with cardiovascular diseases, since it can be performed with young children because it requires minimal cooperation from them. Conclusion In pulmonary hypertension in children it is important to evaluate in an objective, simple and reliable way how our patients evolve, taking into account that there are few possibilities to study the physiological peculiarities of children. This test is important for decision-making and for evaluating the impact of therapeutic interventions, both from the general condition as well as from the cardiovascular health of the patient. © 2015 Sociedad Colombiana de Cardiología y Cirugía Cardiovascularapplication/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.rccar.2015.05.0111205633https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/22994engElsevier B.V.67No. 159Revista Colombiana de CardiologiaVol. 23Revista Colombiana de Cardiologia, ISSN:1205633, Vol.23, No.1 (2014); pp. 59-67https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84951141736&doi=10.1016%2fj.rccar.2015.05.011&partnerID=40&md5=a36b34c6e7f558fd40e2aaa706c19665Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURArticleChildChild healthClinical evaluationClinical protocolCooperationDecision makingHumanPatient monitoringPhysical activityPhysical tolerancePulmonary hypertensionSix minute walk testExercisePaediatricsPulmonary arterial hypertensionSix-minute walk test: protocol and practical application for the evaluation of pulmonary hypertension, with special reference to childrenCaminata de seis minutos: propuesta de estandarización del protocolo y aplicación práctica para la evaluación de la hipertensión pulmonar con especial referencia a la de los niñosarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Barón, ÓscarDíaz, GabrielORIGINAL1-s2-0-S012056331500159X.pdfapplication/pdf1282813https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/c89889cc-a9e7-41e9-929f-fcdde130556e/download80b3ea1b35734f8536117fdd8416aa0dMD51TEXT1-s2-0-S012056331500159X.pdf.txt1-s2-0-S012056331500159X.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain44116https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/b8c267e1-268a-41de-8710-083c906175ea/download8ef66770b44290b8abfe44c3eeab6965MD52THUMBNAIL1-s2-0-S012056331500159X.pdf.jpg1-s2-0-S012056331500159X.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4522https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/834ae4a5-2d0a-4aee-9a56-1f6d453b1419/download6a6c4ad6d08b5c171b376dd06ae69a40MD5310336/22994oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/229942022-05-02 07:37:20.700898https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
